UFOS
A book about the UFO mystery. Are UFOs alien craft, but if not what are they? The book explains not just what most people see but explains some cases that others have been unable to explain.
Do UFOs exist? If they do not, why do people report them? Can we believe the reports? Indeed, can we believe anything? Is human perception reliable, or is it influenced by what we believe? Could the UFO myth determine what we see and report? If UFO reports are distorted by the UFO myth, what is the initial stimulus? In short, what have people really seen? In this book, I try to answer these questions and explain the UFO myth, including its origin and development and how it influences everyone, including those who report seeing UFOs. I also explain how the human perceptual and memory systems can distort reporting and I list most of the 'sources of deception' that can cause UFO reports. I also give an explanation of the most sensational and difficult to explain (core) reports. First published by me as 'Explicit Books' in 1994 (no other publisher was bothered). Copies are still available from my distributor, Gazelle Book Services Ltd. Copies can also be found for sale on the Internet (from Amazon.com & Amazon.co.uk).

How I came to write The UFO Mystery Solved
This goes back to the 1950s when I was a student in Birmingham. One day I came across George Adamski's Inside the Space Ships (1955). Always interested in space travel, I was astonished at the author's claim to have travelled in alien spaceships. Because many believed that UFOs, then very topical, were such spaceships, this led to an interest in UFOs, coupled (unfortunately) with religion, an association that endured until I rejected Xianity (see comments on How I came to write The Rise and Fall of Jesus).
Subsequently, I joined an organisation that investigated UFO reports, becoming their Scottish co-ordinator. By this time, I had collected very many reports and was the prime investigator of a sensational report from Livingston, only a few miles from Edinburgh. Attempts to explain this case, led me to the belief that I could explain many of the cases reported around the world--and the book emerged. Since publication, some of my identifications appear unsound and need revision. Nevertheless, I stand by the main theme, that mirages explain UFO reports that are otherwise inexplicable.
